As we all know, East China Fair features light industrial products and textiles and in China, most of these types of manufacturing enterprises are located in East China's Yangtze River Delta region. The annual ECF has made significant contributions to promoting the export of foreign trade enterprises in Yangtze River Delta region over the past 27 years and now it will take the location advantage of its host provinces and cities to advance the integrated development of foreign trade in the Yangtze River Delta region.

ECF helps enterprises improve

The Yangtze River Delta Economic Region boasts one of the largest economic core regions in China and is also the concentration of China's foreign trade industry. With the acceleration of globalization, China's economic growth and transformation are increasingly more influenced by world economy. The Yangtze River Delta Economic Region, a key region for China's foreign trade industry, faces new opportunities and challenges and is in the critical period of transformation and upgrading. In order to adapt to the changes and impacts brought by economic globalization, the Yangtze River Delta Economic Region must take measures to optimize its trade structure, improve its trade climate and the growth quality of foreign trade industry in hope of promoting sustainable economic development.

ECF is an event that helps cities in the Yangtze River Delta optimize their trade structures and improve the growth quality of their foreign trade. Enterprises from these cities compete with each other at ECF, forcing them to improve themselves. ECF itself also helps enterprises seek self-improvement in many ways.

For example, under an international trade climate where innovation is the only option, ECF has hosted many award ceremonies over the past years, such as “ECF Innovation Award” to encourage foreign trade enterprises to innovate. Guided and inspired by ECF, many exhibitors invest more in research and development and display their new products and new technology at the fair.

In order to help export enterprises obtain more orders, ECF has also set up a cross-border e-commerce exhibition area where thousands of export enterprises and foreign buyers can directly communicate with renowned cross-border and payment platforms, logistics enterprises, and third-party service suppliers.

ECF's positive intentions help the exhibitors from the Yangtze River Delta region reap more rewards: 19 export enterprises from Anqing, East China's Anhui province obtained orders worth $14.1 million at the 23th ECF; seven enterprises from Huainan, Anhui province reached deals worth $8.5 million at the 25th ECF; at the 26th ECF, facing a complicated international market and the moderate and slow growth in China's foreign trade industry, Ningbo, Zhejiang province actively organized local enterprises to attend the fair and encouraged them to display their high value-added and innovative product and it turned out that deals worth $277 million have been reached by Ningbo's 246 enterprises during the match-making activities organized by ECF.

ECF has now become an important platform for East China's opening up to the outside world and China's largest and special regional international economic and trade fair after 27 years of development. Established in 1991, ECF has witnessed the rapid growth of China's economy and the rising of China's import and export trade. Now, its exhibitors not only include Asian exhibitors of which most are at their initial stage, but also ones from Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Latin America. Industrial insiders pointed out that ECF's leapfrog development promotes the rapid development of light, textiles and handicraft industries in the Yangtze River Delta region.

ECF integrates trade resources to promote joint development of provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Delta Economic region

As an important fair supported by China's Ministry of Commerce, ECF closely communicates with the relevant agencies of local governments and is good at promoting economic and trade cooperation and joint development of the provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Delta region in a top-down way.

Although the foreign trade's development level of provinces and cities from the Yangtze River Delta region is different due to the geographical relationship, natural resources and other factors, they have one thing in common – they are all dedicated to stable and healthy economic development since China's reform and opening-up. They play an indispensable exemplary role in developing export-oriented economy throughout the country and contribute tremendously to China's foreign trade growth. Their position in China's foreign trade has seen continual improvement. In the face of tighter international and domestic macro environment and policy adjustment, these provinces and cities make innovations in development strategy, solve the problems of foreign trade development and try to maintain a stable and healthy foreign trade development. The annual ECF serves as a good platform where these local governments check the results of their efforts and learn from each other.

At the 2016 ECF, various novel products displayed by Zhejiang exhibitors repeatedly became the focus of the fair, showcasing Made in Zhejiang's endless innovation. Besides, they also showed their strength in brand building. Its 52 renowned export enterprises from textile, garment, machinery, electron, and light and handicraft industries attended the fair, presenting numerous Zhejiang special products. A launching ceremony was also organized by Zhejiang trade delegation to promote its local brands.

Zhejiang is not the only province to focus on innovation and brand building, which have now become an efficient way to upgrade foreign trade industry for the provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Delta region. By attending ECF, they have not only gained experience from other provinces and cities, but also identified their development direction.

At the 27th ECF, nine host provinces shared their achievements in handling the weakened overseas market demand, increased cost and other difficulties.

As a major province in the foreign trade industry, in order to optimize its foreign trade structure, Zhejiang actively promotes local brands, produces high-quality exports, selects leading Zhejiang enterprises, organizes activities to invite purchasers for the United Nations and other international organizations to buy Zhejiang's products and improves the proportion of local brands in its export. Zhejiang Mustang Battery Co, one of the largest alkaline battery manufacturers in China, and Hangzhou Xinhongyuan Import and Export Trading Co, supplier of anti-mist towels for vehicles, are Zhejiang's leading enterprises.

Jiangsu province accelerates the development of cross-border e-commerce and foreign trade industry's other new businesses as it strives to keep a steady and sound foreign trade development and improve the quality of import and export products. Jiangsu BizArk E-commerce Co, Nanjing Konggang Cross-border E-commerce Industrial Park and other such enterprises have attended the fair, helping 3,500 exhibitors efficiently communicate with overseas businessmen.

Different foreign trade development patterns dazzled the fair, demonstrating China's prosperous economy, and especially the Yangtze River Delta region's vigorous economy. With the help of ECF, the region has become a community of shared interests in foreign trade development where trade resources are properly integrated. In other words, the nine provinces and cities construct ECF and ECF also pays back. And ECF will surely become a more outstanding platform in promoting the joint development of provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Delta Economic region.
